There was a fatal car accident last night, not far from my house. Literally around the corner and just up the street from the store. Happened at 1am and the block of street it happened on didn't reopen until around noon today.
Awful. When someone uses the phrase "wrapped the car around a tree", it's usually an exaggeration. In this case it isn't. Just a crumpled, mangled wreck left. One person dead, one in critical condition. Oh, and the police know that there was another car involved; it fled the scene. How do you live with yourself after something like that? And how could you just leave-at least call for help or something! If they had stuck around, who knows? Maybe prompt assistance could have saved a life. I doubt it, from the severity of the crash, but I know I could never drive away like that.
Presumably, it was street racing. Witnesses say the 2 cars left the parking lot of the local strip club "at a high rate of speed". Not far down the road the 1 car met its end and a young woman lost her life.
Alcohol involved? Probably. Such a stupid and preventable way to die.

We had a bad stretch of street racing incidents in Vancouver a few years back. It is awful when they destroy their own lives but even worse when they take down an innocent.
Effing stupidity. You wanna drink and fly down a road and kill yourself, fine. Just don't hurt anyone else and don't mangle other people's property ffs. Losers.
Yeah, it's bad enough she killed herself but that was her stupid choice, right?
But her passenger didn't make the decision to speed down the road.
