Ugh! Green shag carpet. And with our lovely orange curtains that came with us from the previous house. We moved in at the end of November so I guess we were stuck with the green carpet for awhile.

By the next Christmas, we had lovely orange carpet to match the horrible curtains. And that big box is an air hockey table to go in our newly finished basement Rec Room that my Dad built. Wood paneling on the walls, a fake fireplace and a hand built bar. How 1970s can you get?

Our kitchen-nice harvest gold appliances with matching pots and pans. Lovely!

More of the orange carpet. And also my Teddy Bear Blanket. Had it from birth. i forgot it once as we were on our way to visit my grandparents for 3 weeks. We were an hour into a 15 hour drive when I discovered my terrible mistake and my Dad's response was typical. He said "Too bad!". So I cried very softly for a bit. Mom asked him if he really wanted to hear that all the way there. He turned around. :D I did mention I was spoiled, right?

lol! Orange and green. mmm... I wonder what crimes we're committing right now...
My dad turned around for my pengy too. I dropped him on the driveway as I was loading up the car and I knew he'd be gone forever. We were only about two minutes out when I realized though. :D
Dads! They pretend to be so tough. :)
Any crimes in my house currently are pre existing. And they're bad enough. Other than my mismatched couches. But Mom did the orange carpet on purpose. *shudder*
well, colorblind folks sure had an advantage back in the days, eh? LOL
and those round-cornered photos, what was up with that? I have some too, and they're all tinted orange too. bleurh.
who's the doggy?
That's Tippy, our CorgixSheltie. She was around before I was born and never let me forget it! I'm surprised she's not in the other pics. She usually managed to get in there, somehow.
I love the round corners on old pics. They're so 70's and 80's. *sighs*
Little square pics with rounded edges. Very, very retro indeedy.
I love it! God help me for briefly skimming the late '80's and heading straight into the '90's... yes we loved perms, but we didn't go all primary colors for decorating ;)
And the combos!
Orange and brown.
Green and yellow.
Green and blue.
Red and purple.
:)
LOL!! Skrykey, you just described the rooms in my childhood house.
- Kitchen
- Change that one for orange and red, and that's the dining room...
- the familyroom
- the livingroom
Respectively. :D
We had one house that had red shag carpet in the bathroom-going up the wall in the shower. WTF? And it was behind the sink, too, like a backsplash.
It was there when we moved in, and it got promptly covered in plastic until Dad had time to rip it out and tile instead. Crazy.
And Bear had a childhood home with purple shag carpet all the way up one wall. Wall to wall on the floor, and floor to ceiling up one wall.
I really think people underestimate the effects of the drugs in the late 60's and on into the 70's. There's no other way to account for the decor!
