I feel better again today-woo hoo!!!! Such a relief!
So I have some upbeat stuff on iTunes, and I should be able to blog away merrily today. Oh, and get some stuff done around the store, of course. That, too.
I so love The Killers, especially "All These Things That I've Done." It's one of the songs on my mental list of songs that cheer me up. Someday I'll put them all together on a playlist for myself. I'm just afraid if I had ready access to them all like that, they'd lose their magic. It's better to have one randomly pop up when I'm down or in a bad mood and snap me out of it.
Music is magical in its ability to shape emotion. Add to that the way it hooks to memory and can evoke a different time and place and it's a pretty powerful tool. I wonder why it isn't used more in therapy? It probably should be. Not just for its uplifting side either. I know that certain songs can bring negative emotions and memories up, too. As odd as it may seem, there are times when you want to deal with the crap but it can be hard to force yourself to think about it.
I think that you could use that. If a song forces you to relive a bad memory but you used it to desensitize yourself in a therapist's office-bring the the memory in a safe place-until it no longer caused you pain, well, that would be good. Some therapist somewhere must be using this technique. If not, call it the Skryker method. ;)

I totally agree about the music... that, and the sense of smell. It just triggers all kinds of good (and bad!) things in the brain.
So tap that foot and put on the smiles, muuusic's in the aaair... *grin*
I might even be dancing, if it wasn't for the plate glass windows that expose me to the street!
Thinking about getting the new Killers cd today. What do you think?
I doubt you'd regret it!
I agree about the music. Beck's Nicotine and Gravy came on at just the right time today to make me feel better. He wrote that song about me, doncha know.
:D
I did not know that, Prin! Is Beck a loser in person?
;D
Yes. He's the ultimate loser. (Like, really, but that's what makes him hot. lol)
