Daszzle asked in her blog if anyone has ever seen a ghost. So I thought this would be a good time to relate my ghostly encounters, lol! It is the time of year for it, after all. Skeptics, feel free to skip this post if you like.
I only have one instance in which I can claim to have clearly seen a ghost. I've seen stuff from the corner of my eye and felt or sensed things, but only one full blown apparition. I was driving up to Bear's workplace to pick him up one night at around 1:15am, same as I did every night (he was working afternoons at the time. ) I was not paying as much attention as I should have been when I suddenly saw a guy standing in the middle of the road, waving his arms over his head like he was trying to flag me down. So I hit the brakes and swerved hard while thinking "What the hell is this idiot doing? Does he want to be hit or something!" and then he wasn't there. Not gone like ran away-just gone. Poof!
I pulled to the side of the road and took a good look around for a broken down car or something but I already knew he hadn't really been there. There was no one but me around. And all the hair on the back of neck was standing up. I still don't know what he wanted but he sure got my attention!
Since that sighting, I haven't seen him like that but I've felt like I've sensed him on the road. And sometimes, in the spot that I saw him, the shadows seem thicker than they should be.
I'm certain that my house (which is old-the front part was built in the 1880's) has at least one ghostie, too. Possibly more. Upstairs, it seems like sometimes there is someone walking the hall, pacing back and forth. On the main floor where we're living now, I've seen a little boy out of the corner of my eye but never full on. My Mom saw him too when my parents were living in the first floor apartment.
He's a mischievous sort. In what's now my daughter's room things get moved around and tossed on the floor frequently. When it was the spare room for my parents, the knobs on the bed used to be unscrewed and loosened, especially if my sister and her kids were visiting. My Dad and I both used to tighten the knobs down all the time-and I mentioned to him one day that I'd just done it, thinking that it was my nephew (since he used to do that all the time and it drove Dad nuts) only to have Dad look at me strangely and say he'd done it just after everyone went out for the day and no one had been in the room since.
Since we've been downstairs I often have to go looking for things that have been moved. And one night Bear and I were sitting in the living room talking when one of the dogs' balls started rolling back and forth across the floor by itself, coming to a dead stop and rolling again like it was being rolled between some one's hands. I asked Bear if he saw it and he said yes, and it stopped a minute later. Weird.
Right now, we're still looking for the measuring cup that I use for the dog food. It was sitting in its usual place and now it's gone. Can't find it anywhere. I hope he brings it back soon. :)
Those are my most dramatic ghost encounters. I doubt they'll be my last but that's OK. I think it's cool.
Then again, I've been told I'm weird. ;)

Ouu...I love this! Ghosts are so cool. I definitely believe in them. As long as they're nice, they're fun to have around. I've never seen one but I hope I will someday!
Martini, I think the ghost on the road looks out for drivers. At least, he seems friendly.
I'd hate to have a nasty one around, like on some of those shows on TV. That would annoy me. LOL-they only get to stay in my house if they're nice!
I'm soooo not reading that post. I hate ghosty things. *blushes*
No problem!
(hugs)
