I'm just so not a morning person. There's no way around that fact. Left to my own devices my sleep clock sets itself for 4am to 11am. That is my preferred sleeping and waking schedule. It's not at all hard to adapt to being up all night, either. I've worked 11-7 for years at a time quite happily. When Bear and I first started living together, we were both on the graveyard shift, Sunday to Thursday and it was great! Get home, have breakfast, sleep from 10 or so until about 4, dinner and some together time before heading off to work. It was even possible to catch an early movie on cheap Tuesdays before work.
Now I have to try and sleep from about 11pm to 6am and it sucks. It takes so little to end up staying up too late and then I drag myself around the next day. Bleah. Lately it doesn't seem to matter what I do in the mornings I'm always running late. Too much pressure first thing in the morning. Good thing that I'm the boss; I'm pretty sure I'd have been fired by now after being late every freakin' morning for the last two weeks. To paraphrase Mel Brooks- "It's good to be the Boss!". :p

Oh, I am so there... There was old comic strip I read once where one person is all cheery and sings, "Rise and shine!" and there's nother person (me) in bed mumbling, "Sink and rust."
If my bosses cared about the petty crap (i.e. lateness) I'd have been so gone a while ago. Thank god they know what's important. :)
I'm glad I don't have to wake up for 6 though. I'd never be able to do that. I have to be at work by 8:30 and I wake up at 7:30... And I live far out of the city. :D Every minute counts.
That's the hell of it. I don't really "have" to wake up at 6. It's just that Bear's done work at 6:30 and doesn't drive, so I go and pick him up. It's good, because then we have breakfast together, but I hate being up so damn early!
And then, after he heads for bed, I futz around and somehow can't manage to be here before 10. I don't know how I manage it. I think I'm taking little micro-naps or something, falling asleep on my feet.
Don't most people shop after work anyway? :D I'm a bad influence.
lol-it's the absolute worst when I get here early and no one comes in the store until noon. Even if I get lots of other stuff done, all I can think is that I could've slept in!
I'd prefer to have the store open from 12-8 or 9 but everything downtown closes by 5. By 5:30 it's so deserted you can almost see tumbleweeds blowing down the street.
